Manchester United to receive a portion of Manchester City’s fine

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are set to gain financially from Manchester City’s £9million UEFA fine following Monday’s CAS ruling.

Hopes of seeing our arch-rivals banned from Europe for two seasons was washed away following the verdict.

UEFA had originally banned City from European football for two years following alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play. Unfortunately, that decision has now been revoked.

This comes after it was discovered that most of the alleged breaches reported were either not established or time-barred.

With their punishment now limited to just a fine, oil-rich City will hardly feel the pinch for their transgression.

The report goes on to say that according to the UEFA ruling, this cash will now be shared out among the clubs in the Champions League and Europa League competitions. This provided they adhere to all rules.

City’s let off led to former United skipper Gary Neville taking a dig at UEFA and Financial Fair Play (FFP). He criticized the sporting organization’s inability to properly enforce FFP and has ridiculed their own disciplinary measures.
