Ole Gunnar Solskjaer keeps in touch with Sir Alex Ferguson

According to the High Performance Podcast (h/t Express), Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed that he has regular conversations with Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Norwegian has brought back pride and the United way of doing things at the club. For the first time since Sir Alex was at the helm, the fans have found shades of the old United.

Having spent 11 years as a player under the legendary Scot, it is hardly surprising that Solskjaer still approaches his former boss for advice.

“I have to say I’ve had some fantastic support from Sir Alex.”

The club is currently on an 18-game unbeaten streak that stretches all the way back to January. The run inspired by Bruno Fernandes and a revitalized attack has brought us back to within touching distance of the top four.

The Norwegian has admitted to Sir Alex being a source of inspiration especially when the chips are down.

“And through the difficult periods, he’s been a very, very good support to me. We keep texting each other, he rings me.”

Solskjaer is miles away from even being close to recreating Sir Alex’s success at the club. He has, however, steered us back onto the right track.

Progres under the Norwegian is visible both on the potch and the way the players conduct off it. Smart recruitment too has made a return after years of overspending on average players.

United are also in with a shot at doing a cup double this season. We face Chelsea in the FA Cup semifinals this weekend before resuming our Europa League campaign in August.

United have done well to persist with Solskjaer despite a difficult end to the season last time around. There are times he has been found wanting, but the fact that he learns from them and improves rekindles our hope of returning to the top.
