According to the High Performance Podcast (h/y the Telegraph), Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer turned to Cristiano Ronaldo while pondering over signing Bruno Fernandes.

Having played alongside Ronaldo in his early years at United, Solskjaer reached out to him to know his opinion on his countryman.

The duo was put in touch by Patrice Evra and had a lengthy conversation on the phone over Fernandes.

“Through Patrice Evra, I managed to get hold of Cristiano and his recommendation obviously stood him (Fernandes) in good stead.”

Ronaldo clearly knew what he was talking about. Fernandes has transformed the team since joining the club in January. The midfielder has not only added quality but also raised the performances of those around him.

He also became the first player since Ronaldo to win two consecutive Premier League Player of the Month awards.

Ronaldo is one of the best players to grace the game, let alone sport a United jersey. Eleven years on since leaving the club, he still continues to assist us.
