Manchester United and Manchester United compete for Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan Skriniar
According to the Independent, Manchester United will face off against Manchester City for Kalidou Koulibaly and Milan Skriniar.
The Serie A stars are among the best centre-backs in Italy and will considerably improve both club’s defences.
Untied went big on Harry Maguire last summer. Although the Englishman has done well, he is still prone to get caught flat-footed. It is alongside him that United need another reliable defender.
The likes of Victor Lindelof is also prone to errors while Eric Bailly has suffered from a myriad of fitness issues.
City have identified its defence as a key area to strengthen. United, on the other hand, will adopt a wait and watch approach. We will see how the market develops before making a move.
Jadon Sancho has long been our number one target. The centre-forward position, central midfield, and the central defence are all a part of the conversation.
According to the report, Ole Gunnar Solskajer could turn his attentions to focus on a defender following the meteoric rise of Mason Greenwood.
Koulibaly has been on United’s radar for some time. This could lead to a bidding war for the Senegalese star. With the market reeling from the COVID-19 pandemic, he could be available for £70m.
Inter Milan star Skriniar too is a dependable option who has impressed this season. Other players on our radar include Swansea City star Joe Rodon and RB Leipzig colossus Dayot Upamecano.

At 29, Koulibaly will not be a long-term option. We are better off spending that money elsewhere.
Upamecano is a young defender who has already made a name for himself in Europe. With his contract running out, we will do well to bring in the Frenchman. A left-footed player, he is exactly what we need.
There is a lot that could yet change from now to the start of the transfer window. What United does remains to be seen.
