Man United surprise star could cement his name in the history books with a goal at Brighton

Odion Ighalo could write his name into Manchester United history

According to MEN, Manchester United star Odion Ighalo is on the verge of etching his name in the club’s history books. That is provided he scores on his next start.

He has so far scored five goals in four games as a starter. The latest of those came in the win over Norwich City.

That followed up his strikes against Club Brugge, Derby, and LASK Linz – all three of which he started.

The goals in four consecutive starts match the achievement of Jimmy Hanson. The former United star managed the feat in 1924 and 1925, against Hull City, Blackpool, Derby, and Aston Villa. (h/t MEN)

The player, for his part, is extremely glad to be given the opportunity to leave his mark on the club.

“I’m very happy because it’s a great achievement for me. I think my name is being in the book in United’s history and I’m very happy for that.”

A team player, he is happy that his goals have helped the club progress and win matches on the field. Ighalo also made clear his intention of adding to his tally.

“I’m happy with this achievement, it’s a bit of history made and I hope to keep adding more to it.”

Ighalo’s presence gives Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a solid replacement for his frontline when required. Ready to go when called, the Nigerian is a massive asset.

The Nigerian ace was the subject of much ridicule when United signed him in January. He has done his talking on the pitch and silenced his detractors.

As a United fan, playing for the club will have come as a dream come true for Ighalo. Being able to add his name to the history books will make it all the sweeter.
