Transfer News: Man United complete £200,000 steal deal for 16-year-old Barcelona wonderkid

Marc Jurado set to join Manchester United

According to the Metro, 16-year-old Barcelona sensation, Marc Jurado is set to join Manchester United.

The youngster confirmed his exit from Catalunya as he posted a farewell message on Instagram.

Jurado joined the famed La Masia academy at the age of seven. Barcelona were keen to hold onto him and even offered him a lucrative offer. However, his head was turned by United, who have now triumphed in their pursuit.

“Today it’s time to say goodbye, but not before expressing my gratitude to each of the people who have helped me since I started in the prebenjamín in the year 2011.”

The Red Devils will have to pay a compensation fee of around £200,000 to Barcelona. It is a snip for a player of Jurado’s potential.

Jurado was a regular for Barcelona’s Cadet A side this season. He was set to be promoted to the Juvenil B team next season.

This will not be the first time Barcelona have lost out on promising talents. Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Pique chose to leave La Masia to seek their fortunes in England, years ago.

Pique did, however, return to Barcelona later on where he has had his best years. Hopefully, it will not be the case with Jurado.

Signing the youngster showcases the intention of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make Old Trafford a domain for promising young talents. The Red Devils beat off competition from Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur. (h/t The Guardian)
