Twitter reacts as Liverpool fans thank Marcus Rashford
Twitter was rife with praise for Manchester United star Marcus Rashford including that from Liverpool.
Football tribalism is something prevalent in today’s game. The Liverpool – Manchester United rivalry is the biggest in English football.
It is rare to see both sets of fans appreciate their opponents. Rashford looks set to be one of the exceptions.
The 22-year-old came for much praise for his efforts in ensuring the government continues the free meal voucher program for school kids.
This includes our arch-rivals Liverpool, who tweeted in support of the United ace’s efforts. Posting on their official Twitter handle, the Merseysiders made their feelings clear on the matter.
Rashford’s efforts will also benefit kids from Merseyside who depend on the program. They will now not have to worry about where their next meal would come from.
Football rivalries can be extremely toxic at times. However, some things are bigger than the sport. Feeding 1.3million kids certainly is. We are glad that both the English giants agree on that.
A number of Liverpool fans also took to Twitter to express their gratitude and appreciate Rashford. We take a look at a few of them below.

Brilliant young lad and a massive inspiration. Rivalries and tribalism are irrelevant when it comes to stuff like this. Take a bow. https://t.co/lvdihJT0KL
As a Liverpool fan, I’m loving Marcus Rashford. You are a truly wonderful human being and beacon of hope. Keep up the good work young man.

Yes hello from all of us over here in the Liverpool country, just stopping by to say Marcus Rashford is fucking wonderful

It shouldn’t take a footballer to get a government to make a U turn regarding the feeding of the poorest children. Food should be a matter of human right. But well done Marcus Rashford, and that’s from a die hard Liverpool supporter.

I might be a Londoner and Liverpool fan, but I fully support @ManUtd‘s @MarcusRashford. As a child I benefitted from free school meals. The Government must extend its free school meal scheme for disadvantaged children over the summer holidays. (And his mum should be very proud.) https://t.co/5m4dpHv6Y5

I don’t think I could ever hate Marcus Rashford ever again, even if he scored against Liverpool.

The lads a Hero.
More Manchester United
- Manchester United interested in Chelsea winger Willian
- Manchester United identify Leon Bailey as an alternative to Jadon Sancho
- Blow for United in the chase for Moussa Dembele
Massive respect to Marcus Rashford for his stance on retaining free school meals for children in poverty…

However, in reality, Rashford would never make Liverpool’s first 11, so will never score a 94th minute winner at Anfield…
Even as a Liverpool supporters it is so easy to see that @MarcusRashford is an incredible young man. Free school meals all my school life and definitely took some serious pressure of my Mum
