Twitter reacts as Marcus Rashford pens open letter to Parliament
Marcus Rashford is on course to becoming a Manchester United hero. The youngster has also displayed incredible maturity and initiative at a time of great need.
The 22-year-old penned a passionate open letter to MPs to overturn the decision not to extend the food voucher scheme for vulnerable children into the summer holidays.
Rashford was himself a beneficiary of the scheme as a kid and knows firsthand the effect it can have. He believes he may not have made it as a footballer had it not been for the initiative and fears kids will be affected by it.
He has urged the government to extend their ‘whatever it takes’approach to protect all vulnerable children across England.
Rashford has called it an urgent need that needs addressing. The United star has made it clear that it is a decision that can impact the coming generation and the government will do well to heed his appeal.
As of Monday, the government has rejected the United star’s appeal. (h/t MEN)
The player is undaunted and has vowed to keep fighting for this cause.
His efforts found widespread support on social media, across club lines. Fans united to back Rashford’s appeal. We take a look at some of the reactions below.

In case any readers are not aware, this is a young black man from a humble background speaking – and he is a monumentally far better human being (with or without his riches) than many ruling, priveliged white males. Things need to change.
