Manchester United interested in Lazio striker Ciro Immobile
According to a report from Calciomercato (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United are keen on making a move for Lazio and Italy centre-forward Ciro Immobile in the summer.
Having come through the youth ranks at Juventus, Immobile first made his name at Torino, following which he had forgettable stints at Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla, before joining Lazio in 2016.
Since joining the capital club, the 30-year-old has been a prolific goalscorer in Italy. He has been in particularly exceptional form this season, bagging 30 goals and 7 assists in 33 matches across all competitions.
This has seen him attract interest from several quarters, with Liverpool and Napoli believed to be monitoring his situation. And now, Manchester United too have joined the hunt for the 30-year-old Immobile. (h/t Daily Mail)
The interest does come as a bit baffling considering the options at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s disposal already.
With Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood already available, and Odion Ighalo also staying till January 2021, the need for a new striker isn’t imminent.
Bringing in another forward at this point of time would only serve to hamper the development of Greenwood, who has enjoyed a fine breakthrough campaign.

Nevertheless, Manchester United are considering making a swoop for Immobile in the coming months. Lazio, though, have no intention of offloading the striker given that he still has three years left on his contract. (h/t Daily Mail)
The Italian international is also keen on staying with the club, as they are on the verge of qualifying for the Champions League. (h/t Daily Mail)
