Rafael Da Silva urges Manchester United to sign Corentin Tolisso

As reported by the Metro, former Manchester United hero Rafael Da Silva has insisted that the club should go after Bayern Munich midfield star Corentin Tolisso in the summer.

Tolisso has been with Bayern for almost three years, having moved to the club in 2017, in a £44m deal. However, injuries and the emergence of other midfielders such as Leon Goretzka have meant Tolisso has had limited game time in the past year.

The 25-year-old has featured in just 13 Bundesliga matches this term, scoring 1 goal and setting up 2 more. He has impressed in the Champions League though, with 2 goals and 3 assists in 6 games. (h/t Transfermarkt)

Unhappy with the limited game time, Tolisso is keen on securing an exit. And Manchester United have already entered negotiations to sign him up. Bayern, too, are willing to do business for a transfer fee of €35m (£31m).

Reacting to the update, Rafael took to Twitter to express his thoughts on the supposed deal. The Brazilian defender wrote:

“One of best midfielder I play with, i think will be perfect for machester United. Hope he goes there.”

Rafael spent seven years at Manchester United between 2008 and 2015, before joining Olympique Lyon. The Brazilian played two seasons with Corentin Tolisso in France and clearly holds him in the highest of regards.

The 25-year-old has had an injury-riddled year, but given his age and quality, he would be a great addition to our ranks. A transfer fee of £31m doesn’t seem to steep either.

Will the club heed to Rafael’s advice and sign him though? Only time will tell.
