According to the Express, Wolverhampton Wanderers have identified Idrissa Gueye to replace star midfielder Ruben Neves.
This will come as a boost to Manchester United who have been keeping tabs on the Portuguese star. Signed for a of £15.8m from Porto three years ago, he will now fetch at least £50m. (h/t Express)
The 23-year-old has been an ever-present in Nuno Espirito Santo’s side this season. He has made 43 appearances while scoring four goals and two assists. (h/t Transfermarkt)
Our pursuit is emboldened by PSG’s willingness to let Gueye leave. The French champions are keen on rebuilding their midfield. The former Evertonian is one player they are willing to sell. (h/t Express)
Capable of playing anywhere in central midfield, Neves is a dynamic player with a knack of scoring spectacular goals. A deft hand at set-pieces, he would add a further dimension to our offensive capabilities.
Having turned 23 earlier this year, he is also a young player who has the potential to grow into a leading star. The prospect of him teaming up with and developing alongside countryman Bruno Fernandes is a mouth-watering prospect.
He has been likened to Portuguese national hero Joao Moutinho due to his excellent distribution and ability to pick out a pass. (h/t UEFA)
Neves played a key role in Wolves’s successful 2017-18 season. They won the Championship and returned to the Premier League after six years. His performances saw him get selected in the PFA Championship Team of the Year and the EFL Championship Team of the Season.

Neves has also won 16 caps for the Portuguese national team. He was part of the squad that won the 2018-19 UEFA Nations League.
With Nemanja Matic not getting any younger, recruiting a new defensive midfielder would be a smart move. Wolves are now seemingly preparing for Neves’ exit, handing United a boost. Will the club make a move though, given the current financial conditions?
