Manchester United closing in on Wolves striker Raul Jimenez
According to the Mirror (h/t Express), Manchester United are closing in on a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez.
The club is keen to make a move for the Mexican, after Chelsea landed Timo Werner. At 29, Jimenez too is intent on the transfer, as he wishes to land a big payday. (h/t Express)
Wolves, however, want to hold onto their striker, who has been nothing short of phenomenal at the Molineux. In his two seasons at the club, he has managed 39 goals and 18 assists in 88 appearances.
Jimenez is Wolves’ club’s record signing, having initially joined on loan in 2018. The deal was made permanent last summer following a spate of impressive showings. The Mexican has led from the front with 22 goals and 10 assists in 44 games this season as Wolves mount an unlikely assault on a top four finish.
His performances have not gone unnoticed. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to strengthen his options in attack and has identified the Wolves man as a target. (h/t Express)
Although Wolves are not in need of the cash, Jimenez could be tempted by the opportunity to don the famous red shirt. Apart from playing for a big club, he will also be in line for an improved payday. (h/t Express)
More so the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has strong connections with United. This could make a potential switch more doable. His current contract runs until 2023. (h/t Express)

United have already extended the loan of Odion Ighalo until January 31, 2021. The Nigerian has excelled since moving to United, but he is not a long-term solution.
Jimenez isn’t someone who can be relied upon as a long-term option either. But he is an incredibly fit striker who can contribute to our cause from the get-go.
