Real Madrid enter the race for Jadon Sancho

According to Spanish publication AS (h/t Metro), Real Madrid have entered the race for Manchester United target Jadon Sancho.

The 20-year-old is one of the best young talents in world football today. He scored a hattrick at the weekend to take this season’s tally to 20 goals and 20 assists in 39 games. (h/t Transfermarkt)

His performances have garnered the attention of a number of Europe’s top clubs. A return to England looks more likely, with Manchester United and Chelsea leading a pack also containing Liverpool and Manchester City.

It appears Spain could be another option on the table as Real are also keeping tabs on the wonderkid’s progress.

One advantage we have is the Spanish giants’ inability to fund a move this summer. Real have not been exempt from the harsh financial realities of the coronavirus pandemic. They remain keen to splash the cash a year down the line if Sancho remains at Dortmund this summer.

With his contract running till 2022, Dortmund are keen to keep him on for another year. If he performs as he has done so far, there is no reason why they cannot cash in on him next summer.

Expected to fetch at least £100million, Dortmund could have to settle for a lower fee given the current financial climate. They will, however, expect to get top dollar for the talented superstar.

Sancho would be an excellent addition to the United squad. A true match-winner, he could change our fortunes up front.

With Real willing to wait until next summer, we have a window of opportunity. We should not let him slip through our fingers.
