Dimitar Berbatov advises Manchester United off Philippe Coutinho

According to the Metro, former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov has warned the club off Barcelona outcast Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian star’s career has fallen off a cliff since his dream move to Barcelona in January 2018. The Catalan club’s record signing, Coutinho has been a massive disappointment. So much so that Barcelona were keen to let him out on loan last summer.

In spite of enjoying a new lease of life, he has again struggled at Bayern Munich. A match-winner at Liverpool, he has failed to recapture the form that saw him run the Merseysiders’ midfield.

“Honestly, United don’t need him right now.”

In spite of being a talented player, the crux of the matter is that United do not need him. With Bruno Fernandes already providing the creativity from midfield, the club is in no need to enter a bidding war for the Samba star.

“Bruno Fernandes is a very similar player; he really hit the ground running and looks to be a very promising signing so I don’t think there would be any point in United signing him.”

With Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay also in the mix, Berbatov feels Coutinho is not needed. We could not agree more.

Coutinho is an excellent player who would have added a lot to United. But the club has now moved on and can call upon better options.

Barcelona may struggle to get rid of him but it is extremely unlikely that he will end up at Old Trafford.
