Ole Gunnar Solskjaer rejects Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho
According to the Express, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has turned down the opportunity to sign Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho.
The former Liverpool ace’s dream move to the Nou Camp has quickly turned into a nightmare. He spent just a season and a half in Catalunya before he was packed off to Bayern Munich on loan.
The Germans have, however, declined the opportunity to sign him. With the player currently injured, it is possible he has already played his last game for the Bavarians.
Having failed to replicate his form in Red, the Catalans are keen to cut their losses on the Samba star.
According to the report, Solskjaer’s refusal came following Barcelona offering the player to Manchester United.
Although United had been linked to the player over the past few months, the effect Bruno Fernandes has had at Old Trafford means United can afford to be choosy.
The Portuguese playmaker has added imagination and decisiveness to the Manchester United midfield. The Red Devils have not been short of attacking output with the 25-year-old in the side.
United are still in the market for a midfielder. Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish is the preferred option. The Red Devils have also been linked with a move for Jadon Sancho.
The club has recruited well in recent months. It remains to be seen who we bring in this summer.
