Manchester United select 29-man provisional squad ahead of PL return

According to a report from the MEN, Manchester United have picked their provisional squad for the final run-in of the 2019/20 Premier League season, which could restart next month.

Football in England has been suspended for over three months now due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. However, the Premier League is motoring towards a return to action in mid-June. (h/t MEN).

Manchester United reopened their Carrington training complex last Wednesday as players started training in small groups. The Red Devils have a fully-fit squad heading into the final few weeks of the top-flight.

Indeed, star striker Marcus Rashford, who has been sidelined since the turn of the year, is fit again. Same is the case with Paul Pogba, who has hardly featured over the course of the 2019/20 campaign. The Frenchman has recovered from his troublesome ankle issues. (h/t MEN)

With the duo rejoining the group, Manchester United now have a 29-man provisional squad at their disposal for when the Premier League returns to action. (h/t MEN)

However, the squad could see some changes over the coming month. Odion Ighalo’s loan deal with the club will expire on June 30 and he will be cut from the roster if the club fails to agree on an extension till the end of the season with his parent club Shanghai Shenhua. (h/t MEN)

Angel Gomes is another player who could be axed from the squad. The 19-year-old is in the final few weeks of his contract with Manchester United. The club has till June 23 to extend his stay at least until the end of the season. Failing to do so will see the Englishman get cut from the squad. (h/t MEN)
