According to MEN, Manchester United have identified Schalke youngster Rabbi Matondo as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund superstar Jadon Sancho.

The former Manchester City prospect has been touted as a cheaper alternative to Sancho. One of the finest youngsters in world football, the Dortmund star is unlikely to come cheap.

Just like Sancho, Matondo too left English shores in search of better opportunities in Germany. He has now made 21 appearances for Schalke, scoring one goal.

A versatile attacker who is capable of playing anywhere along the frontline, he is considered by the Red Devils as a low-risk option. A similar approach ended with us signing Daniel James last summer.

The Liverpool born winger has worked his way up to the Wales national team squad managed by Ryan Giggs. The former United star has been left impressed by the youngster’s abilities.

Schalke are expected to be open to selling players this summer. The Germans are not immune to the coronavirus crisis and will need to offload players to balance their books.

Having made his international debut in 2018, the 19-year-old has gone on to win a total of four caps for the Welsh senior side. Although his numbers are nowhere close to Sancho’s, the fact that Giggs rates him highly shows there is more to the player than what meets the eye.
