Miralem Pjanic not keen on a move to Manchester United
According to Catalan newspaper Sport (h/t Metro), Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic is not interested in a move to Manchester United.
The Bosnian midfielder looks set to leave Turin as Juventus attempt to deal with the financial fallout due to the coronavirus pandemic. With the Old Lady keen on a reunion with Paul Pogba, he was also mentioned as one of the possible makeweights in a player plus cash deal.
He has now put an end to any such discussion, having made it clear that he prefers to move to the Nou Camp. Barcelona have already made an approach for the 30-year-old, who has contributed with three goals and four assists in 32 appearances this season.
The midfielder had also drawn interest from French champions Paris Saint-Germain. With his heart set on a move to Catalunya, he has also shut down any interest from Paris.
According to the report, Barcelona are keen to wrap up the deal quickly. They have already agreed on a four-year deal with the player.
At 30, Pjanic is not a long-term option for a club that is keen on a long-term project. The Bosnian has been a mainstay in the Juventus midfield. However, he could find it difficult to cope with the speed and strength of the Premier League.
In many ways, missing out on the player will not be a big blow for the Red Devils.
January signing Bruno Fernandes has spoken of playing alongside Pogba. Hopefully, it will be the start of a turnaround in fortunes for our midfield.
