Manchester United set to land Marc Jurado in the summer

According to Spanish publication Diario Sport (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United will sign Barcelona youngster Marc Jurado this summer. The Red Devils have already agreed on terms with the teenage sensation.

The defender who recently turned 16, has turned down a contract extension to fashion a move to Old Trafford. Held in high regard at La Masia, he is seen as the leader of a generation by the Catalans.

In what can be considered to be a coup for United, the player has agreed in principle to make the switch in the summer.

Jurado spent nine years playing for Barcelona’s youth teams. His decision to move comes in spite of the Catalans offering him continued progression and an improved salary.

Having appeared for Barcelona’s Cadet A side this season, Jurado was set to be promoted to the Juvenil B team next season.

This will not be the first time Barcelona have lost out on promising talents. Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Pique chose to leave La Masia to seek their fortunes in England, years ago.

Unfortunately for us, Pique returned to the Nou Camp and went on to have the best days of his career. Hopefully, it will not be the case with Jurado.

Signing the youngster showcases the intention of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make Old Trafford a hive of promising young talents. United have also landed another promising teenager in Sunderland’s Joe Hugill.
