Manchester United in contact with the agent of Timo Werner

According to Sport Bild’s head of football, Christian Falk (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United are in touch with the agent of Bundesliga hotshot Timo Werner.

The much sought-after striker has openly flirted with a move to Liverpool. But with reports suggesting that the Reds could be in for a quiet window, a window of opportunity has emerged.

He is keen on a move abroad and has already informed Bayern Munich that he isn’t keen on a switch to the Allianz Arena.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a prolific season in Germany. He had scored 27 goals and 12 assists in 36 appearances before the season was suspended.

Liverpool are keen on his services, although they are watchful of the impact the coronavirus crisis can have on the transfer market.  They have asked Werner’s representatives for more time when it comes to submitting an official offer to RB Leipzig.  

With teams in disarray, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had earlier talked about taking advantage of the opportunities the market can offer. It appears such an opportunity has just turned up. It remains to be seen if the German can be swayed to give up on his dream Anfield switch.

Adding Werner to our frontline will take us up several notches. A prolific striker, his movement on and off the ball makes him a force to reckon with.

Premier League rivals Chelsea too are keen on the German ace and have similarly approached the player’s representatives.

Werner is not the only Bundesliga star the Red Devils are keeping tabs on. United are also in the run to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.
