Manchester United to talk to Marcos Rojo over the breach of governmental regulations

According to the BBC, Manchester United will talk to Argentine defender Marcos Rojo over his conduct after he flouted the lockdown rules in his country.

Currently on loan at Estiduantes, he was recorded smoking and playing poker with his friends by his brother Franco. The video was then uploaded on his Instagram account. It was quickly deleted but not before Argentine media outlets saw it.

The 30-year-old’s actions were in clear violation of the country’s lockdown rules. These restrictions are set to last until 10 May.

This is the second time in two days that the player has found himself in hot water. Just a day earlier, his brother had posted an Instagram image of them having a kickabout with friends in the park.

Rojo was deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford by United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January. The Argentine had started just one Premier League game all season.

The player’s time as a United star looks to be over. Rojo has already expressed his wish for the loan to be extended. (h/t Daily Mail)

His actions are unbecoming of that of a public figure and especially as a Manchester United player. As a representative of the club, he is expected to behave in a way that is not detrimental to society.

Hopefully, he will have learned from this incident and will do better in the future.

Rojo is hardly the first player to flout the rules. Aston Villa skipper Jack Grealish, Manchester City defender Kyle Walker and Everton forward Moise Kean were all found to have ignored governmental regulations since the Premier League was suspended in March.
