Under-fire superstar could be set for Old Trafford redemption

Paul Pogba could be given another opportunity at Manchester United

It will take an extremely biased fan to say that Paul Pogba has been anything but a failure in his second coming at Manchester United.

The French superstar has only shown a glimpse of his precarious talent that convinced United to spend a then world-record fee to bring him home. He has faded after a bright start and is today known more for his off-field antics and social media activities.

Having made just 8 appearances this season, the Frenchman has been linked with a cut-price £70million move to Real Madrid. Managed by Zinedine Zidane, the Spaniards came close to signing Pogba last summer.

However, according to the Mirror, the French superstar’s story at Old Trafford may be far from over. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen to build a partnership between Pogba and new signing Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese sensation has lit up Old Trafford since arriving in January and has quickly transformed our midfield. He had earlier spoken of his desire to link up with Pogba and it looks as if he might be getting just that.

The Frenchman’s injury problems also look to be behind him with the medical staff declaring him fit and ready for action when the season restarts.

Solskjaer has informed Pogba that he will go straight back into the team. The United boss is excited at the prospect of a Fernandes-Pogba midfield axis behind Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Meanwhile, Scott McTominay is set to play in one of the two holding roles.

Pogba, who has two years left on his contract, has also accepted that his immediate future lies in Manchester. The dire financial state clubs find themselves limited in their ability to prise the Frenchman away in a mega-million deal.

In the current climate, a club cannot afford to pay United’s asking price of £100million let alone stump up the £290,000-a-week the Frenchman gets paid at United.

The current situation could be exactly what Pogba needs to leave a mark at Old Trafford. Circumstances and Solskjaer have offered him an opportunity to start afresh and he will do well to make it count.
