Marcos Rojo repeatedly broke lockdown regulations in Argentina
According to the Metro, Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has been found to have broken multiple lockdown rules in his native Argentina.
The 30-year-old, currently on loan at Estudiantes, was filmed smoking and playing poker with his friends by his brother Franco. The video was then uploaded on his Instagram account. It was quickly deleted but not before Argentine media outlets saw it.
The gathering Rojo was a part of looks to be a breach of Argentina’s lockdown rules. They were recently extended by president Alberto Fernandez until May 10.
The country has been under mandatory quarantine since the middle of March. Although certain restrictions were eased, such as permitting people to go within 500 meters of their homes for exercise.
However, it does not permit visits from other people, especially not in groups as seen in the video. There have been almost 5,000 recorded cases of coronavirus in Argentina and 237 deaths as of this weekend. (h/t Daily Mail)
This is the second time in two days that the player has found himself in hot water. Just a day earlier, his brother had posted an Instagram image of them having a kickabout with friends in the park.
To make matters worse, Rojo was wearing the shirt of Estudiantes’ rivals Boca Juniors bearing the name of the legendary Roman Riquelme on the back.
Rojo was deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford by United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January. He had started just one Premier League game all season.
He played just one league game for Estudiantes prior to the shutdown of the Argentine league. Rojo has already expressed his wish for the loan to be extended. (h/t Daily Mail)

Rojo’s actions are irresponsible and unbecoming of that of a public figure. It is unsure how Manchester United will deal with the issue.
The Argentine has also done some good deeds during the lockdown. He delivered food and drink to more than 200 families in his home town of La Plata last month.
