Rio Ferdinand likens Man United star Marcus Rashford to Kylian Mbappe
According to the Beautiful game podcast (h/t MEN), Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged the club to build the team around star striker Marcus Rashford, likening him to Kylian Mbappe.
He has gone on to compare the youngster’s impact to that of Kylian Mbappe at PSG. The Frenchman is one of the best players in the world and being compared to him shows the level Rashford is held at.
The Englishman has enjoyed an excellent season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and has firmly established himself as one of the key figures in the team.
The United No.10 has scored 19 goals and 5 assists in 31 appearances before an injury threatened to end his season. With football currently suspended, Rashford will get chances to add to that tally once the season resumes.
Having come through the ranks at United, Rashford’s abilities have the rubber seal of approval from Ferdinand. The defender describes the striker as a ‘mad talent’ and touched upon his versatility.
“Rashford can be up there with the best 100 percent, because he’s got mad talent”
Ferdinand is glad that the player has been able to make the step up to the senior side. He also lamented the fact that his rise had to come at a time when United have struggled to impose themselves as the best team in the land.
He believed that the newfound consistency under Solskjaer will gain new impetus upon the return of Rashford. The striker can take the Red Devils up a level, just like Mbappe has done in Paris.
