Man United target James Maddison to stay put at Leicester City

Manchester United have been dealt a serious blow in their efforts to land James Maddison.

Appearing on the BT Sports Team talk (h/t Evening Standard), the Leicester City star has reaffirmed his commitment to the Foxes.

On the show, the 23-year-old made a surprise phone call to a Leicester fan who prompted the answer out of the player. Asked if he would be staying at the King Power Stadium, Maddison agreed in the affirmative.

Maddison has proven to be an inspired signing for Leicester. He moved to the King Power Stadium in the summer of 2018 and has only improved his reputation.

James Maddison has been a revelation at Leicester City

He has made 73 appearances for Leicester so far and has scored 6 goals and 10 assists. His eye for goal and ability to create chances from nothing would have been an excellent addition to the United midfield.

With Bruno Fernandes already changing the fortunes of the team. The addition of Maddison would have taken us up further. However, that looks not to be the case, at least not this summer.

With coronavirus pandemic affecting club finances, Ed Woodward had revealed that it makes no sense for the club to make big transfers at the moment.

Leicester have enjoyed a brilliant season and looks set to play in the Champions League next season. In some ways, it is good that the player will not be joining us this summer.

We can get a better understanding of his capabilities as he puts himself against the best in Europe’s premier competition. With Leicester set to command a hefty fee for the midfielder, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Woodward also revealed that the club is keen to see the season resume. With us in with a shot of winning two trophies and also qualifying for the Champions League, we have as much to lose as anyone if the season is voided.
