Man United unable to get rid of transfer flop Alexis Sanchez

According to The Sun (h/t Daily Mail), Manchester United are struggling in their efforts to get rid of Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez.

The 31-year-old has struggled to make a mark at Old Trafford since moving from Arsenal in January 2018. He has been a shadow of the player he was at the Emirates and has scored just 5 goals and 9 assists in 45 appearances for the Red Devils.

His antics at United have been so poor that the club were happy to send him away on loan without bothering to sign a replacement.

According to the report, Inter is also unwilling to sign the player citing his mammoth £500,000-a-week wage. Sadly an unwelcome presence, he may be forced to train separately from United’s first-team squad at Carrington when the current season reaches a conclusion (h/t Daily Mail).

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is unwilling to expose his young team to the negativity propagated by the Chilean international (h/t Daily Mail).

With over two years still left on his Old Trafford deal, United could have to fork out around £55m if they decide to part ways with the forward before his contract expires (h/t Daily Mail).

The transfer of the Chilean has also proved to be a financial disaster for United. The club has so far spent a combined £64.65m on the player with minimal returns (h/t Daily Mail).

With Inter forking out just £80,000 per week to pay his salary, United have effectively been paying Sanchez to play away from Old Trafford (h/t Daily Mail).

His wages have been a sticking point in our efforts to find him a new club.

The Chilean is entering the twilight years of his career. If anything, his presence at the club is a constant reminder of the toxic dealings we have made in the recent past.

It is clear that his time at Old Trafford is over, but how United can get him off their books remains to be seen.
