Manchester United hopeful of returning to training in May
According to MEN, Manchester United coach Kieran McKenna has revealed that the club is working on a return to training after the lockdown period.
The lockdown in the United Kingdom came into effect on 23rd March and is scheduled to end on May 7th at the earliest.
According to the report, McKenna hopes that the club can return to training after May 7th provided the governmental guidelines are eased.
The club is working towards resuming training and hopes that the lockdown is somewhat loosened. United are prepared for any eventuality and also have alternative plans in place in case of any further delays (h/t MEN).
“We are working to that schedule at the moment but, if we have to push back again, we have got a plan B and plan C already prepared.”
Being at home has not stopped the players from training on their own. They have all been given personalized plans to follow while in isolation.
McKenna is hopeful that the current season will be completed. By forfeiting the season United would be throwing away a potential return to the Champions League and a season’s worth of hard-won progress (h/t MEN).
“Everyone is keen to play and everyone wants to finish the competitions”
United are still alive in the FA Cup and Europa League. We could also make the top four in the Premier League.
In spite of that, McKenna is not blind to the severity of the situation we are in. He has rightly remarked that events off the pitch take preference at this moment in time (h/t MEN).
