Man United handed hope in pursuit of 22-year-old Dutch star
Ajax star Donny van de Beek confirmed he hasn’t signed a deal with Real Madrid while speaking to Helden (h/t Metro).
The 22-year-old was one of the reasons why Ajax reached the Champions League semi-finals last season and remained at the Dutch club for this campaign too.
Real Madrid see Van de Beek as an alternative to Paul Pogba while we have been linked with the midfielder too, according to the report.
Van de Beek told Helden that a club has to want him and he hasn’t finalised a deal with a team yet (h/t Metro):
“My feeling must be good at a club. How much do they want me?
“But I also have to fit in with the system that is being played and of course I also want to have an overview of playing minutes.
“Playing in the sun is always nice. But no, I certainly haven’t started taking Spanish lessons yet. I have not said yes to anyone, everything is still open.”
The midfielder added that he enjoys his time at Ajax and loves being at the club too.
A quality option for United?
Landing Van de Beek would be a great move for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as he looks to rebuild the team.
Pogba’s injury-plagued season cut short Solskjaer’s options in the midfield, and Van de Beek would be a great fit for our team.
The Dutchman can play in several positions in the midfield and has an eye for goal too. Van de Beek has 14 goals for Ajax this season and 7 assists too.
He can play as an attacking or a defensive midfielder, and it will be interesting to see if we move for him. United signed Bruno Fernandes in the winter window and the Portuguese has done extremely well since joining the club.

Ole could still do with another versatile midfielder and Van de Beek could be the one that fits that requirement.
