Odion Ighalo willing to take 50% pay cut to join Man Utd permanently

According to a report by The Sun, on-loan Manchester United star Odion Ighalo is willing to take a 50% pay cut to join the club on a permanent basis.

The Chinese Super League striker joined temporarily during the deadline day of the January transfer window. He has been a reliable figure up top, comfortably filling the void left by Romelu Lukaku’s departure last summer.

In 3 Europa League appearances, Ighalo has scored 2 goals. His performances, in general, have been promising enough. Even after Marcus Rashford recovers, it would be great to have an experienced figure like the former Watford man in the mix.

The Sun goes on to claim that in order to make it a permanent move, Ighalo would need to forfeit about £6m from his wages. The 30-year-old currently pockets a £240,000-a-week salary from Shanghai Shenhua.

Ighalo is aware of the fact that United would be unable to pay him such lofty wages, as per The Sun. Although his contract with the Chinese club runs until 2021, we would be able to acquire his services permanently once the summer transfer window commences.

Although, signing him looked like a last-minute act of desperation by United, suffice to say that the move has paid off richly for us – especially in the absence of Rashford.

Thus, United must not think twice about signing him permanently in the summer. We need more players like Ighalo and he has done enough to be considered for a long-term contract.
