Solskjaer provides contract update for Man Utd starlet Angel Gomes
According to a report by Manchester Evening News, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an update regarding Angel Gomes’ contract.
The young academy graduate is approaching the final three months of his existing deal but the United manager remains hopeful that the club will succeed in tying him down to fresh terms.
Only recently, Tahith Chong put pen to paper on a new contract and for the sake of the club, it would be great if Gomes follows suit. After all, we need to keep our young talents close.
The 19-year-old has struggled with game time this season but Solskjaer believes that he has the potential to turn things around at Old Trafford – provided he stays put.
When asked about this situation, the Norwegian boss said:
“With Tahith we’re very happy he sees his future here, we can see a very good player there and we’ll give him time to develop.”
“That is the same with Angel. We hope we can convince him in the near future and long term future that he’s a Manchester United player,” he concluded.

Since Solskjaer’s appointment as our manager, there has been a constant emphasis on building a youth-oriented squad. The fact that Chong has committed his future does come as great news but it would be even better if we succeed in retaining Gomes as well.
Having youth players succeed at the club is so important in terms of culture and given that Gomes is a talented youngster, it would be fruitful for the club if he extends his stay.
