Man Utd’s Scott McTominay explains his aim at the club

According to a report by Manchester United’s official website, midfielder Scott McTominay has opened up about his long-term aim at the club.

The youngster has proven to be an able player in the midfield this season. Alongside the likes of Fred, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba, McTominay has done well enough to continue getting his name on the teamsheet.

Over the last couple of weeks, he endured a dip in form but his recent show in the win against Manchester City has turned the tide in his favour again.

Although he was on the bench initially, McTominay came on in the second half and scored a last-minute screamer that stamped our authority on Pep Guardiola’s men.

Since Bruno Fernandes’ arrival, there has been increased competition for the spots in the middle of the park. While that has limited the homegrown product’s involvement to a certain extent, McTominay believes that the added pressure is beneficial.

Ahead of the Europa League game against LASK, McTominay said in a press conference:

“If you don’t have competition for places, people get relaxed, take it too easy and take their foot off the pedal.”

“Manchester United have always had that competition for places and people being in and out of the team. But obviously for myself, you want to be one of the first names on the teamsheet. That’s the way you have to strive for, to strive to be the best,” he added.

It is great to see this surge in passion and commitment from the midfielder. He has certainly been one of our finest over the last year or so and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s vision of building a youth-driven side is only helping McTominay make a name for himself.
