Man United star keen on extending Old Trafford stay to link up with new signing

Paul Pogba keen on linking up with Bruno Fernandes

According to the Daily Mail (h/t Mirror), Manchester United star Paul Pogba is keen on extending his stay at Old Trafford in order to link up with Bruno Fernandes.

The Frenchman was widely tipped to leave the club in the summer with the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus keen on securing his signature.

The speculation was strengthened by Mino Raiola, the player’s agent who openly criticized the club for their handling of his client.

The player looks to have had a change of mind following the immediate success of January signing Bruno Fernandes. The Portugal international has scored three goals and three assists in eight games for the Red Devils following his £47million arrival from Sporting Lisbon.

United’s new dynamic duo?

According to the report, Pogba has been impressed by Fernandes to such an extent that he is keen not only to remain at the club but also to extend his current contract.

The Frenchman’s contract at United runs until the summer of 2021. The club, however, holds the option to extend for another year.

The report goes on to say that the Frenchman believes Fernandes and himself can lead propel the club towards a new era of success at Old Trafford.

Fernandes has added some much-needed creativity to the United midfield apart from lifting his teammates’ game. United look a much better outfit with the Portuguese ace in the side.

A lot is said to hinge on United’s ability to qualify for next season’s Champions League. The Red Devils are currently primed to challenge Chelsea for the fourth spot with nine games remaining.

A poetic repeat of history?

United are also through to the round of 16 in the UEFA Europa League. We could qualify for the Champions League if we win the tournament.

The Red Devils managed to do the same in 2017, with Pogba playing a pivotal role in the triumph. It would be poetic if Bruno Fernades did the same this year.
