Kalidou Koulibaly earmarked as primary summer target
It has been just three days since the January transfer window shut, but Manchester United are already preparing transfer plans for the summer.
Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has emerged as the primary transfer target for the Red Devils as they aim to strengthen the defence going into the new season, according to the Mirror.
The Red Devils have been long-term admirers of the Senegalese defender and see him as the ideal partner for Harry Maguire.
The Red Devils chased the player last summer without much joy. They ultimately chose to pay a world-record fee to land Harry Maguire instead.
The club plans to reignite their interest in the player in the summer. Koulibaly is aware of the interest and remains keen on a move to Old Trafford.
The defender is expected to cost around £90million. He has also been linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Paris Saint Germain, and Chelsea. (h/t Mirror)
Manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer is a fan and believes that the player is worthy of the hefty fee commanded. If United get their man, it will be the second time in as many summers that they will have broken the world record fee paid for a defender.
United have focussed on revamping their defence with the signings of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Harry Maguire in the summer. The addition of Koulibaly will further strengthen an area that has at times been found lacking.

Koulibaly is not a cheap option and will include a substantial transfer fee. If he makes a big impact though, it will be money well spent.
