Transfer Boost for Man United as La Liga giants cool their interest in World Cup winner

Man United get a boost as Griezmann is not a priority for Barca

Manchester United have received a huge transfer boost as Barcelona have cooled their interest in signing Antoine Griezmann.

The French World Cup star has been on the radar of the Red Devils ever since he announced his departure from Atletico Madrid this summer. With Barca turning out to be the favourites to sign the French ace, they have now shrugged off their interest, allowing United to have the edge.

Griezmann, 28, has fared well under Diego Simeone this season, bagging 31 goals across all competitions despite ending up trophy-less.

And the premature UCL exit against Juventus in the round of 16 is believed to be the key reason behind Griezmann’s shock decision to leave the club.

The former Real Sociedad star is not a popular figure in Barcelona as he turned down an offer to Camp Nou last summer. Furthermore, he is also on the radar of Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

How will Griezmann fit into United’s playing 11?

United might have undergone a horrible season but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks more confident of striking gold in the upcoming season.

The Norwegian manager is currently working on the squad and needs some attacking reinforcements.

Griezmann would be the ideal solution to strengthen United and can help them form a formidable attacking lineup.

He has racked up 21 goals and 9 assists as a centre-forward, and bagged 4 goals as an attacking midfielder, which shows his versatility.

Yet, the only thing that could prevent the Frenchman’s move to Old Trafford is United’s status for next season as they won’t compete in Champions League.
