Jadon Sancho, 19, is Manchester United’s one of the top targets this summer. His form for Dortmund has also seen the teenager break into Gareth Southgate’s England team and is widely regarded as one of the nation’s brightest young prospects.

The Red Devils are ready to pay over £100million for the teenage sensation, according to The Independent, with new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking to rebuild the squad from next season. The report adds Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also thought to be interested in signing Sancho but United is the likeliest destination.

But Ian McGarry thinks the Reds Devils are making a mistake by potentially preparing an ‘overpriced’ offer for the exciting English forward, owing to his form for Dortmund and the England national team.

“I think Manchester United are shooting themselves in the foot by focussing on a very overpriced bid for Jadon Sancho, of Borussia Dortmund, seemingly on the back of his form for England,” McGarry told on the Transfer Window Podcast. (h/t The Daily Star)

The Red Devils are also linked with a big-money summer swoop for Lille’s exciting winger Nicolas Pepe but McGarry believes Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will miss out on the Ivorian, who is also watched by the likes of Tottenham, Manchester City, Arsenal and Everton.

Is Jadon Sancho overpriced?

Jadon Sancho

Sancho is one of the hottest properties in Europe and his dazzling performances in Dortmund colours have caught United’s attention. United are prepared to back Solskjaer for rebuilding the club and Sancho fits the profile of the kind of player we are aiming to sign.

But I agree with Mr Ian McGarry that £100m is a lot of money for the England international. Instead, Solskjaer could do a brilliant job by signing Lille star Nicolas Pepe, who is rated at £70million. (h/t The Metro)
