A Bola (h/t Mirror) reports that Manchester United have made contact with the representatives of Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.

The Portuguese is having a great season and has scored 22 goals in all competitions this season. The report adds that the 24-year-old is a target for United and Liverpool are also keeping tabs on the attacking midfielder.

The report claims that Fernandes has a £90million release clause and his team is struggling financially. Sporting could be enticed to selling the fan favourite if they get a large fee for the 24-year-old (h/t Mirror).

There have been many outgoings from Sporting recently due to off-field issues. Rui Patricio, Gelson Martins and William Carvalho are some of the notable players having left the Portuguese giants.

United could do with a goalscoring midfielder

The Red Devils have turned a corner under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but could do with more goals from the midfield.

Paul Pogba is having an outstanding season but having someone like Fernandes would give us two quality attacking midfielders in the team.

United’s other midfield goal scoring options haven’t been great this season, however, Jesse Lingard has been in fine form under Solskjaer.

The 24-year-old could become one of the best midfielders in the world, and it will be interesting to see if we make a bid for the star.
