Mundo Deportivo (h/t Sun) claims that Manchester United are interested in Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic.
The report claims that the 31-year-old midfielder could be replaced in the starting XI thanks to the arrival of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax.
The Dutch midfielder is one of the rising talents in world football, and the report claims that Rakitic is contracted till 2021 and Barcelona will not offer him a better deal.
The report adds that Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan are the other clubs interested in the crafty Croatian.
Rakitic has been excellent for the Catalans since joining from Sevilla and the report claims that any club wanting to sign him would have to activate his release clause of £108m.
One of the best midfielder’s in the world
The report adds that the 31-year-old wants regular football and his possible lack of playing time next season could see him move in the summer.
Although the midfielder is one of the best in the world, he isn’t getting any younger and it would be a major surprise if any club decides to activate his release clause and sign him.
United could do with more creativity in midfield but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to have gotten the right balance in the side and Paul Pogba is playing great again.
The only blip during Ole’s tenure has been the loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League, but we could still turn that around in the second leg.
United will be spending in the summer again, and it will be interesting to see what our plans are one the season ends.
