Milan Skriniar’s move to Manchester United seems a long way off after the recent comments from Inter Milan manager Luciano Spalletti.
The Slovakian centre-back has been linked with the Red Devils (h/t Mirror) as we look for defensive quality, but the Mirror claims that Inter have opened contract talks with the defender.
Spalletti was asked about the future of Skriniar after Inter’s win over Benevento in the Coppa Italia and the Italian didn’t believe any club could afford the 23-year-old (h/t Mirror):
“Skriniar is staying here, he is out of everybody’s price range.
“Nobody can afford him.”
The report highlights that the defender lashed out at the press linking him with a move away from the club. Skriniar posted on Instagram about the press writing things they did not know off but deleted the post later.
United have had their troubles in defence this season and we are down to our bare bones regarding fit defenders.
Victor Lindelof and Phil Jones have done a decent job in recent weeks but the likes of Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly have struggled to perform with consistency this season.
The Red Devils are on a fantastic run with six wins from six games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and we are back in the race for a top-four finish.

A couple of signings in the winter window should give us that extra push to beat the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal into the top four, and hopefully, we will get a quality centre-back.
