Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte is interested in the Manchester United job, according to Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t Metro).

The report claims that the Italian was in the frame to replace Julen Lopetegui as the Real Madrid manager and had asked for a couple of signings after their 5-1 defeat against Barcelona.

The Spanish giants are keeping their options open and Florentino Perez is contemplating bringing Jose Mourinho back to the club.

The Portuguese has had a tough time at Manchester United this season but his team have picked up their form in the past few games.

The report further adds that Conte would be keen on the job, should Mourinho move to Spain. Another factor that makes this move attractive is the Italian teaming up with Paul Pogba post their Juventus days.

Mourinho and Conte had a few bust-ups during the latter’s time at Chelsea, but the Italian knows the league well.

The former Italy and Juventus manager picked up the Premier League title in his first season with Chelsea and won the FA Cup before leaving.

Conte is an interesting choice to replace Mourinho as he is extremely passionate and could turn things around at Old Trafford.

Manchester United have many quality players in the team and Mourinho has unable to get the best out of them this season. Hence, considering the ex-Chelsea gaffer as an option isn’t out of order.
