Arsenal manager Unai Emery is interested in signing Manchester United star Juan Mata, according to the Daily Star.
The Gunners’ manager worked with the Spaniard during a spell at Valencia. The player will be out of contract when the season ends next summer.
The report adds that Mata wants to stay at the club but hasn’t signed a new deal, despite receiving the best efforts from the Red Devils.
The 30-year-old needs to be convinced that he is a regular first-team player at the club before he makes any move to sign the new contract. (Daily Star)
The Spaniard has already played for Chelsea, and it would be incredible if he moves to a third Premier League side in his career.
A move for the former Valencia man could also depend on what happens to Aaron Ramsey at the Emirates. The Welshman is expected to leave on a free at the end of the season and is wanted by Manchester United, as per the report.
A swap deal between the clubs is not high in probability as both players are taking their time to decide on their future, according to the Daily Star.
Mata has been in decent form over the past few weeks. The playmaker started in our success over Everton and was great in the 2-2 draw against Chelsea too. Losing the star would be a big blow to the side, especially on a free transfer.
