Manchester United have offered Massimiliano Allegri a three-year deal, according to Calciomercato (h/t Metro)

The 51-year-old has won the league and cup double with Juventus in each of the last four seasons. The report adds that the Italian has been in contact with the Red Devils and has “responded positively” to the approach.

Jose Mourinho is still the manager at the club but the Portuguese has come under pressure after a slow start to the season.

The Red Devils sit in eighth and are five points behind the Premier League leaders. United needed a last-minute winner against Newcastle United and face Chelsea once the international break is over.

The report adds that Allegri’s contract is worth £7.9million per year and will get a transfer budget of £175m to sign new players.

Juventus did spend big in the summer as they lured Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid and do not want to lose their manager, as per the report.

Allegri wanted to leave the side, as per the report, but the signing of Ronaldo changed his mind. The Italian is under contract at Turin till 2020 and wants to turn Juventus into Champions League contenders after finishing runners-up twice in the past four years, as per the report.

United’s clash against Chelsea will be tough as the Blues are one of the Premier League leaders. Hopefully, the Red Devils can pull off a victory and cut the gap at the top.
