£36million Man United star stalling on new deal until clarity over Jose Mourinho’s future

Anthony Martial

The Sun reports that Anthony Martial has stopped contract negotiations with Manchester United until he learns about the future of Jose Mourinho.

The report claims that Martial, who joined United for £36m, and the club were in contact over an extension in May but the player isn’t willing to sign a new deal if he is out of favour at the club.

Martial has only started once this season and the report adds that the player and manager had a falling out in the summer, regarding him leaving pre-season training for the birth of his son.

The report claims that Martial is one of the players that could outlast Mourinho’s stay at the club.

Although Martial isn’t starting too many games, his contract will come to an end next summer. The club does have the option to extend his deal by another year and the report adds that they will take up this option.

However, the player could lose some value if we fail in negotiating a new contract, as per the report.

Martial is one of the brightest players we have in the club and must do everything in our power to keep him.

The 23-year-old has the potential to be one of the best in the world and we have seen glimpses of his best during his years at the club.

Martial can play in a number of positions and he just has to get his head in the game. Mourinho must work hard to get the player on board and the entire management has to ensure we keep the Frenchman for a number of years.
