Man United star thanks fans for support as Red Devils pick up crucial win at Burnley

Juan Mata Manchester United

Juan Mata failed to make the 18-man Manchester United squad for our clash against Burnley. The Spaniard didn’t feature in the squad against Spurs too and he shared his disappointment on United’s website.

The Spaniard highlighted that winning the game was important after a couple of poor results. Even though the former Valencia man did not feature for the side, he applauded the fans and was even in the away end at Turf Moor, cheering the team on.

Mata shared his views on United’s website (h/t Metro) where he claimed:

“On a personal level, the afternoon didn’t start so well for me when I found out that I wouldn’t be involved in the game, but two things helped me to feel better about myself: the result and the atmosphere from our fans in the stands.

“The passion, spirit, intensity and energy that comes from the fans is the engine that drives football.”

The Spaniard thanked all the fans that made the trip and sang songs for the players, including Mata during the game.

Mata ended by adding that the club are special for many reasons and one of them should be the fans.

It was surprising to see Mata not feature against Burnley, as he could have done a decent job. However, we might see him in the next clash against high-flying Watford.

The Hornets are six points clear of us, having won all their Premier League games and the clash at Vicarage Road would be a real test to see if we are ready to make a title challenge this season.
