Patrick Kluivert has claimed that Justin Kluivert‘s proposed move to Manchester United would have been “too big a jump”, while speaking to La Gazzetta Dello Sport (h/t Mirror).
The Mirror reports that Justin was a target for the Red Devils but the young winger decided to join AS Roma in the summer.
The youngster made his debut for the Serie A team in their 1-0 win over Torino and the senior Kluivert claimed he was happy with his son’s progress but wanted him to stay at Ajax for another season.
Patrick claimed that his son chose to move away from the Dutch giants but added that a move to the Premier League would have been difficult.
“A jump to the Premier League would have been difficult… I think United would have been too big a jump. Roma is an important club, but the pressures are lower.”
The former Barcelona striker also claimed that Justin could think about a move to the Catalan giants but for now, he is at the right club.

Justin was pictured with Jose Mourinho after United defeated Ajax in the Europa League final in 2017. However, the decision to move to Italy could be the right one for his development given that it isn’t as physical or demanding as the Premier League.
