Jose Mourinho could lose his job by Christmas, according to former Manchester United player Lee Sharpe.
The Red Devils were comfortably beaten by Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday and Sharpe was quoted by the Express saying that Mourinho is not the right man for the job.
Sharpe added that our rivals are playing attractive football but Mourinho’s United are not.
“The football’s not entertaining and what makes it twice as bad is that their two biggest rivals, Man City and Liverpool, do play exciting football.
“His negative style does not fit in with the expansive football that United fans want. I think he’ll be gone before Christmas.”
United didn’t make a lot of moves in the transfer window either. The Red Devils only brought in Fred, Lee Grant and Diogo Dalot.
The Express adds that Mourinho wanted another central defender but Ed Woodward did not sanction another signing for the Portuguese manager.
United weren’t great in the 2-1 win over Leicester City on the opening day of the season and we were poor against Brighton too. I fear that things could turn bad if we don’t start playing well. Almost every player was below par against Brighton and our next game is up against top-four rivals Tottenham.
Spurs have won their opening two games of the season and unless we play to our potential, there could be more questions about Mourinho’s future at Old Trafford.
