Manchester United reject Barcelona’s offer of £45m plus two players

Manchester United have rejected Barcelona’s bid of £45million plus Andre Gomes and Yerry Mina for Paul Pogba, according to Gianluca Di Marzio (h/t Metro).

The Metro adds that Pogba has been linked with a move to the Spanish giants as the player’s agent Mino Raiola had flown to England to present the offer made by Barcelona.

The Metro further claims that Mina was a player that United were close to signing. However, the deal fell through regarding an issue with the agent’s fee.

Pogba is, however, seen as an important player for Manchester United, according to Di Marzio. The player certainly proved his ability in Russia as he helped France lift the World Cup as they defeated Croatia 4-2.

While United prepare for the opening clash of the Premier League season against Leicester, the club have little time to find a replacement for Pogba should they sell him.

The English transfer window closes tomorrow and finding a replacement for Pogba would be difficult. But we can still receive offers for the 25-year-old Frenchman after the deadline.

Selling Pogba now makes little sense even if Barcelona throw Mina and Gomes into the deal.

Gomes might slot himself into the midfield but he has not had the greatest of times at Barcelona since moving from Valencia. Mina, for his part, had a pretty good World Cup and could be a decent buy, but not at the cost of Pogba.
