Manchester United dealt with major blow in their pursuit to sign defender before deadline day

Leicester City are not looking to sell England star Harry Maguire for any price, according to the Express.

The report claims that Manchester United are ready to make a bid of £75m for the 25-year-old Maguire but Leicester’s owners are refusing to sell the star player.

Maguire was one of the top performers at the World Cup for England and Leicester are looking to extend his stay at the club by offering him a deal of £100,000-a-week, according to the Express.

This would not go down well for us and the report also adds that United are looking to bring in one more defender before the transfer deadline on Thursday.

Toby Alderweireld of Tottenham and Jerome Boateng of Bayern Munich are the two options we have listed out (h/t Express). We have made a £40m bid for Alderweireld but that is £10m short of what Spurs want. Meanwhile, Bayern want £45m for Boateng.

The pair of defenders would turn 30 next month, so Maguire has reportedly been the No.1 target for United. We could see the England star in action against us on Friday in the Premier League. After all, Claude Puel currently has a bit of a crisis when it comes to finding fit central defenders at Leicester.

The English defender is back in training for the Foxes and could start in the match against us. Maguire certainly has seen his value skyrocket since the World Cup ended and it will be interesting to see just where he ends up after the transfer window closes.
