Diogo Dalot will not be able to make his debut for Manchester United before September, according to Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese manager was quoted by the Metro as saying that Dalot was injured and had to have a small surgery, which the club knew about. Mourinho also added that the player is making a fine recovery.
“He’s recovering really well, I think he can start training when we come back to England. He won’t be ready for the start of season but ready i think for September.”
Dalot was pictured on crutches a few days after signing for United and the Metro also reports that the 19-year-old, who we signed from Porto, actually picked up his injury last season for his old team.
The right-back was also forced to have a minor operation done before he could sign for us. However, he is with the United squad that has travelled to the US for their pre-season and has not been able to train fully with the rest of the side.
This should not be a major concern for us at the moment, given that Mourinho and the club knew about the injury and then decided to go ahead and sign the player up.
It is a bit disappointing that we will not be able to see the highly-rated defender play for the team before September. However, we should not rush his recovery and should rather let him get into perfect shape quickly.

Aggravating the injury would help nobody at the club and maybe we can start the season with Antonio Valencia as our right-back and slowly bed Dalot into the United way of things as weeks go by.
