Manchester United have been offered Marco Verratti by his agent Mino Raiola following a falling out with new Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel, according to Calciomercato (h/t The Sun)
The Italian Verratti was expected to play a huge role in the new manager’s first season at Paris but a discussion between the pair has not gone as planned.
The report claims that Tuchel told the 25-year-old to lose weight and improve his fitness levels and that has not gone down well with the midfielder.
This was enough for his agent to hunt for other clubs that might be interested in the Italian. Barcelona were one of the clubs contacted but they turned down the offer. Juventus and Real Madrid were also approached but the pair stated that they are not in a position to make a bid for Verratti.
Jose Mourinho could use his dealings with Raiola to bring Verratti to the club, given that we have signed players like Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba in recent years.
Both players are clients of Raiola and it would be an incredible signing for us since Verratti is one of the best in his position.
The Italian would not come on the cheap though as he is an important player for PSG. However, the alleged fallout should prompt Mourinho to test waters by tabling an initial bid.
Manchester United are in dire need of a marquee signing ahead of the new season and Verratti fits the bill perfectly. Thus, the Red Devils must take advantage of the situation and pursue a move for PSG star.
