Manchester United interested in 9-goal star as Spaniard wants to quit Real Madrid – report

Marco Asensio wants out of Real Madrid after failing to hold down a starting spot at the club and Manchester United are interested in him, according to Spanish reports.

El Gol Digital (h/t The Sun) claims that Madrid are looking to buy another big player in Brazil star Neymar and that could mean even fewer chances for Asensio next season.

The 22-year-old is waiting for the World Cup to end before deciding on his future but the Spaniard has a number of options.

While we are interested in signing the attacking midfielder, Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on the World Cup star while Premier League rivals Chelsea are also in the running for his signature.

Not enough playing time for the youngster

Asensio did play 10 minutes in Spain’s last World Cup game where they beat Iran 1-0 and he did have a decent season with Real, scoring 9 goals and providing 7 assists in all competitions.

The youngster, however, only started 22 games in the Champions League and La Liga combined and it does make sense that he wants to start more games as he is a talented player.

The problem with Real is that they have the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale in the attack while Toni Kroos and Luka Modric occupy the midfield slots.

Moving away from Real will guarantee him more playing time and he would be a great signing for us. Asensio would solve our creativity problem in the midfield but the fear of dealing with Real is the asking price for the player.

Asensio is young, talented and is a match-winner. His price will skyrocket if Spain do well and we would have to pay a bomb to bring the Madrid man to Old Trafford next season.
